Sessions and fees
My working days are Monday to Friday with varied working hours so please get in touch for more information.
What to expect
Embarking on the journey of counselling can be a daunting experience, and it’s natural to have uncertainties.
In our initial session, I’ll provide a comprehensive introduction, detailing my professional background, training, and counselling approach. We’ll discuss our counselling contract, ensuring you understand the principles of confidentiality and privacy.
This foundational session is also a space for you to express your motivations for seeking counselling and to define your expectations. Whether we opt for a set number of sessions or maintain an open-ended arrangement, it’s a decision we can revisit regularly.
Subsequent sessions are tailored to your unique needs. Typically, we’ll start by exploring recent events, thoughts, or concerns. Your open expression is encouraged, free from judgment or interruption. Your confidentiality is paramount, fostering an environment where you can speak with total honesty. If you prefer a more structured approach, we can collaboratively explore skills and strategies to support your journey. My goal is to create a safe and supportive space for your personal growth and well-being.
How will I feel after a counselling session?

It is common to feel a range of emotions after a session. For example:
- Relieved, if you’ve shared something important and felt heard and understood.
- Energised, if you’ve started to understand something new about yourself or set yourself a new goal to work on.
- Exhausted, if you’ve found the session challenging or hard work.
- Frustrated, if you didn’t get what you wanted out of your session or haven’t felt heard or understood.
- Upset or overwhelmed, if the session has brought up very painful or difficult memories or feelings.
We’ll discuss typical reactions and explore ways you can care for yourself when faced with emotions that seem challenging or tough to handle.
Progress happens gradually
Progress in counselling isn’t necessarily linear because everyone’s life experiences differ, making it difficult to predict a specific timeline for improvement. Life’s challenges can also sometimes interrupt or alter our path, affecting progress.
Yet, as sessions unfold, subtle changes in daily life will become apparent. These changes may manifest as improved symptom management, a decrease in symptoms, the accomplishment of current goals or heightened self-awareness beyond our sessions.
Progress is very personal and I’ll help you identify signs of progress, whether subtle or prominent. For instance, if you sought counselling for anxiety, we’ll assess if symptoms have reduced or disappeared, and if they interfere less with your daily activities. This could translate to feeling less anxious, experiencing fewer panic attacks, or enjoying improved sleep quality.
